The Impermanent Human: Grief Works
A Professional Training for Coaches
The Impermanent Human: Grief Works is a six-session, in-depth training designed for coaches who want to work with grief ethically, confidently, and with psychological depth. This programme recognises grief as a profoundly human, adaptive process that reshapes identity, meaning, and capacity.
Across six immersive sessions, you will explore:
-
1
Foundations of Grief – Contemporary grief theory, adaptive processes, oscillation, identity reorganisation, and ethical boundaries (when to coach and when to refer).
-
2
Narrative & Identity – Story reconstruction, continuing bonds, and the Hello Again principle in post-loss identity work.
-
3
Meaning Making – Meaning reconstruction, existential shifts, and values-based integration after loss.
-
4
Impermanence & the Contemplative Lens – Working with change, non-attachment, and compassionate presence without spiritual bypassing.
-
5
Nervous System & Emotional Regulation – Window of tolerance, titration, pendulation, and trauma-informed grief coaching.
-
6
Integration & Professional Practice – Case application, scope of practice, referral clarity, and building an ethical grief coaching offer.
This is not a course about “fixing” grief or accelerating recovery. It is about learning how to accompany loss with maturity, skill, and presence. You will leave with a clear integrative framework, practical tools, and the confidence to work responsibly with one of the most complex aspects of the human experience.
The course:

Why training with me?
My work with grief is informed by specialist training including Shapes of Grief for Therapists, Working with Loss and Bereavement for Therapists and Counsellors, and Palliative Care training from Stanford University. My teaching brings together coaching, psychology, and contemplative perspectives. At its heart is a simple intention: helping practitioners accompany others with presence, humility, and care through some of life’s most human experiences.
